As title really, bought this through Ebay for a bit of a gamble not knowing if it was broken or not, after receiving it it seems that the button is stuck. Can it be released.

If it's not broken beyond repair, I would first twist the square lock in the middle of the shifter and see if that releases anything. You have to twist it to install or remove the shifter anyway so it's part of the process. I think there should also be a rod in the shaft that's actuated by depressing the button. I'd loosen that nut and then take a pair of needle nose pliers and try to gently coerce it to see if it will loosen somehow.

You'll have to stick a tool in the bottom opening to push the button out, then secure the button in its outward position before attempting to install.

Sorted it guys, after much swearing and performing micro surgery on it I've got the mechanism released.

Not a bad outcome for a £20 Ebay gamble.
