Default 2011 Hybrid S Mysterious Oil Leak

HI all,

First time poster, long time lurker.

I have a 2011 Hybrid S with ~98k miles on it. I've had a slow oil leak that leaves an occasional dot on the pavement under the car when parked, and must also drip when driving. The spot is right about where the back of the engine is on the passenger side. I'm losing about 1 qt of oil every 2 months or so -- it's not a fast leak.

To try and fix it, I replaced the valve cover gaskets and that did reduce the amount of oil seeping out of the engine, but hasn't fixed the leak entirely. There's still some seepage from somewhere near the rear passenger side of the engine.

I called the local Porsche dealer but they weren't terribly helpful and referred to a cam adjuster bolt that they've seen leak -- but I can't find any reference to it. Has anyone heard of any known leaks on the Hybrid S?

Thanks.

Didn’t even know there was a Porsche Cayenne in 2001.

Edit: Let alone a hybrid in 2001.

Don't let the sarcastic comments get you down. I think the hybrid is such a rare bird in the US that very few people who are members here own them. That means you may have to be the expert (with 98,000 on your hybrid it's probably one of the higher mileage examples..)

One possible way to get to the source of the leak. Clean down the engine carefully - then lightly dust it with talcum powder. Go for a drive - if any oil hits the talcum powder it will be immediately obvious and make it fairly easy to track back to the source. I'm sure there is some UV dye that could be added and a UV lamp sort of setup - but talc works well and the cost is minimal. If it doesn't turn up the source of the leak you can always use the rest for it's intended purposes.
