For those who are not doing the HPFP; remove the small 25 fuse in the engine bay (where the break fluid is) and that will release some pressure
Everything under looked really good, the Tstat housing was not loose but was definitely the old part, vent lines and all plastics were all intact and solid - not brittle. Even my serpentine belt was new looking.

Well after changing out some idler pulleys - what a pain to get those stupid caps off, I seem to be a bit stuck - will try again tomorrow or later. The water pump pulley seems to be bonded to the pump...

Yes those caps were the hardest part of the whole job. Did you try to tap the pulley with a rubber mallet? Mine came right off. But I didn't think twice about harming the pulley because I replaced mine with an aluminum one.

I tried to post the rockauto link but it didn't work right. Go to rockauto >porsche >year >cayenne >engine type >cooling system >water pump pulley. It is the only pulley listed.
You're going to have to get the pulley off one way or another. So if you have to break it off so be it.

Ok old one is off- it fused to the metal. So that’s in the garbage. Next problem is trying to get to those little star bolts on the outer edges of the thermostat housing - not sure how the wiring moves out of the way on the passenger side

I'm not exactly sure what you mean but I do remember that I had to loosen and move the plastic wire way from the front, passenger side of the engine just below the head. Or maybe it was on the head. Can't remember. Anyway.... The bolt is a tamper proof allen. It is reccessed in the plastic. With that bolt removed it should give you enough play on the wire way to move it enough.
