2019 XC90 hybrid vs 2017 cayenne S hybrid
thoughts?
New XC90 hybrid versus a used cayenne s hybrid with 24,000 km. The Volvo would be about $10,000 more than the Porsche.

Not a complete apples-to-apples comparison but I looked at both a 2019 XC60 T8 R-Design (fully loaded) and a 2013 Cayenne Turbo and ended up with the Cayene Turbo. Size-wise they honestly felt about the same but the overall fit and finish of the Cayenne was better in addition to the driving dynamics. They are both really nice SUVs but at the end of the day, if you're going to spend close to 70k on a vehicle, it should feel like it and the Volvo to me and my wife didn't feel like it was worth the coin.

For me, I had owned a 955 Cayenne Turbo and loved it but ended up selling it when gas went really high in `10 - `11 time frame and I was driving 50 miles a day round trip for work. Now, I work much closer to my house and I've got some little ones, the Cayenne Turbo was back in the running and checked the boxes for me and my wife. So much so, that my wife told the sales person we're buying the car right after the test drive. I just opened my door and told the sales person I was letting my leverage out of the car.

Not to just dump on the Volvo, keep in mind the maintenance costs at Porsche have potential to be significantly more than they would be at Volvo.

Much of the answer "depends." The Vovlo is a very nice vehicle, and is designed for the luxury SUV market. I wouldn't compare it to a Cayenne, but if I am going that route, I'd actually look at some domestic manufacturer's vehicles. My mom had S class cars since I was a kid. In her seventies they decided to try a Hyundai Equus and loved it. Recently, at late seventies, she bought the new Santa Fe. It's an impressive vehicle. If one wants a nicely fit and finished SUV, and doesn't put a lot of value into power and handling, this would be a contender to fit the bill. However, I can't imagine somebody comparing a Santa Fe to a Cayenne.
I will say this, the finish of the interior in the Cayenne could use some better materials. The full leather interior is great. However, if you don't get that option, the plastic is lousy and there is too much of it (door sides, dash, etc.).
