I was also thinking of doing the upgrade, so that I have the heated ability on my multi-function wheel. I did play around with a PIWIS2 someone has and saw that there are several places coding would need to be done for this to work. As i understood it, when you have the multi-function steering wheel, the heated plug is already there, just need a wheel that has the element in it and connector to go into the plug. then code it with PIWIS
Why not upgrade to the 958.2 steering wheel? I'd love to do the same in the future. I hear there is some kind of gadget you buy to make it work.
Good question. I have a few reasons.
Mainly cost. I got a used multifunction steering wheel in my color leather for a good price. Going with a 958.2 adds another layer of complexity and cost (the extra gadget) and fingers crossed, I won't have a lot of complex coding to do (equals more cost). And lastly I really don't need the latest and greatest steering wheel. I'm content with this model year wheel
I have the same wheel. Ive thought of same as you.
I know on the sports cars you generally need the wheel + control module for the multi function wheel plus coding
I don’t know on the cayenne.
The dealer PET should list the options differences here and allow you to get the parts you need, then you need coding.
You need to get a hold of your activation codes. This somthing only a dealer can provide. That is if they are willing to. With that you can plug it into the piwis and program it.
I think it it shouldn’t matter if you replace the clockspring/switches and as long as the heating cable is there from the sport wheel, you should be fine.
