Scratched front window by wiper
The other day it rained here in Socal. Now I washed my car a few days before that rain. I noticed my front windscreen now has a large scratch made by my wiper. How this happened I don't know. I am careful not to use the wipers when the windows are dirty. Can this be fixed or I am off to buy a new front window screen?

If it's shallow enough - polishing it out is possible - but will need a power buffer (non-orbital, old-fashioned one that looks like a grinder) and a felt pad, and cerium-oxide. You might check with some glass shops before replacing the windshield if you're uncomfortable doing it yourself. There may be some minor distortion where it gets polished..

Polished the wiper marks out of my Jaguar Windscreen using the above mentioned cerium oxide. Cheap tub of it off Amazon. mix into a slurry. COVER the car as it goes everywhere and is like super fine mud.
I used a porter cable https://www.portercable.com/products...olisher/7424xp with a felt pad.
I probably have close to 3 hours of polishing in on the glass. I know I have done the whole windshield at least 4 times. The car had a mono wiper and the scratches were not quite deep enough to snag a fingernail, but you could feel them.
I worked a regular pattern and did every square inch of glass and ended up with a very nice surface and no optical distortions or waviness that I can tell.

Thanks guys. Seems like a lot. The scratch bothers the hell out of me so may need to get a replacement. I also have a similiar scratch on the driver side window. This may have happened when a small piece of dust on the driver side glass was trapped when I let the window down. Gee what a simple thing to cause so much pain and $$. Window screen is 900 plus dollars at the dealer. I will definitely go with OEM though.
