Diesel initial slow crank

Hi guys.
My 2012 Diesel is cranking very slowly, especially at cold engine.
The first "revolution" or two is very slow, and then it fires and run normally. Restart will crank normally, as well as automatic start and stop, no initial slow cranking.
I was sure this was due to a weak battery, six years of service life of the original would be normal. New Porsche battery is now in, properly coded and all, but the nuisance has not improved much. No fault codes, fresh oil.
Has anyone seen this before?
Is my starter motor on its way out?
Cheers,
Tore

I haven't dug into this yet. The starter motor is placed under the intake manifold, in the middle of the V of the engine. A starter change could be combined with fixing my coolant leak in the same spot.
However, I can still live with both problems and I haven't taken the cost of fixing it.

Tore

I have not had this fixed yet. With -20°C here, it is a PIA, the car sometimes needs jump start help to get going.

OP. Your starter is toast. Coolant contamination will kill them. Plus the extra heat in the Vee and high compression of the oil burner engine. Replace it and change coolant pipes while in there and all will be good. Do it before you get stranded on a freezing cold night.
