Woot! New to me, 2013 CTT! (pics inside) Speedometer reads fast
I just got back from an EPIC roadtrip from the Bay Area to Ann Arbor, Michigan in my new 2013 CTT! I love this thing! Had an '05 (technically still have it, but will be selling shortly) before, and the PDCC is AMAZING! Makes it feel like a Panamera instead of a truck.
I only have one issue. The speedometer seems to read 4 MPH faster than I'm traveling. Tires are stock size (295/35/21) Continentals, so I'm puzzled what would make it read so far off (compared to GPS signal). Anyone ever encounter this? Did my first oil change on it yesterday and I'm feeling pretty good about it! Will be posting here more from here out.
Akrapovic Exhaust! So nice!
Driving across Nevada!
In the desert!
Back in Michigan (with my buddy's AMG GTS!)

Beautiful!
You did the opposite coast trek that I did to pick up my Cayenne. I went from Chicago back to NJ, though I'm sure your trip was further (and much more fun!). Love that it came with the Akrapovic Exhaust (is it too loud?) and the CF interior trim. I definitely want to upgrade to the CF trim later next year.
Congrats on the pickup!

The exhaust is NOT too loud in either open or closed - but I keep it closed int eh neighborhood. It doesn't drone either. Very civilized, IMO, with a little aggression.
The road trip was excruciatingly long. Not sure I want to do that again. Was going to ship it, but those transport guys are all VERY sketchy! The good ones wanted CRAY money and were quoting 3-6 weeks for pickup. Oh well. It's here and I'm happy with it.

It's good to hear that the Akrapovic exhaust is pretty civilized. I might have to do some research for my GTS.

A "fast" speedometer is normal. Can easily see 2-4 mph at highway cruising on a Porsche.

I did a similar drive when I picked up a 2004 C4S several years ago. Took me 3 days to go from Portland, OR to Indiana. Enjoyed the trip but long days of driving.
My 2011 CS reads 2.5-3 MPH high when referenced to GPS.

Yeah, I'm seeing speedometers are a consistent issue after doing a bit more research. Next set of tires may have to be 295/40/21's instead of the 295/35's . Should increase actual speed by ~3MPH. I'd be okay with that.
As for the drive back, it took me 44hours door to door with ~34 of actual driving. Would just pull off into a rest area to grab a nap here and there. Recline the seat, snooze until I woke up (usually and hour or two), and then get back at it. Tried to get one of my kids to join, but they said no way. Kids...

The speedometer is intentional. German law makes it so no manufacturer EVER wants to have a speedometer read slow (ie - you're going faster than the speedo sez..) So they purposely make them read fast. Usually a few MPH overall, with a bit of an additional percentage of the speed - so it's not exactly linear. The faster you go the more inaccuracy is built in.

My 2011 CTT is also 3-4 over so I always set cruise control at 13 mph over the speed limit. My Cayman is nearly spot on so not sure why the Cayenne is so off.
