Hello Guys
I was really tired of my PCM 3,1 unit on my Cayenne Turbo, after searching for all the options to replace the unit and no one was perfect. Replacing the PCM have too many tradeoffs . I got the chinese Tesla Style unit for Porsche Cayenne, because of the looking, but it is full of glitches and missed very important oem functions. Then I started to look at the Android Box to add into the PCM, I had to disassemble the unit to install a new board and even though the other fellows who installed it said that PCM touch screen is not very responsive making hard to use the android apps.
Then I started this project with the idea of built a android tablet on top of the PCM unit. And after hours of design and lot of wrongs 3d printing , I am very happy with the results, Here are some pictures.
The back of the unit in this picture was removed , that is why it looks like unfinished. But the Back has been wrapped in leather. I will post a picture later. The clock is totally visible from the driver seat
Do you still have the CAD drawings of the bracket? I may be able to CNC something. I was thinking of the adding the Android box, but didn't know there were complaints about responsiveness.
Wow this thread is awesome. So much useful info. Thank you all for your contributions!! Going through all of this helped convince me to make the jump and grab this deck along with some peripherals.
This similar setup with a big name brand would probably be closer to $1000 I would think right? So this looks to be a smoking deal for this type of setup!
My order shipped on Thursday when I placed my order on Wednesday. So that was a smoking fast turnaround. And based on other comments here, it looks like about 2 weeks to get here in Vancouver. Can't wait!
Having a nightmare getting mine to work. Should all be connected correct and is soldered into the MOST box for secure connections. Tried several wires off the ACC and still no sound.
Maybe amp is toast, read another thread here and that was his fix. Volume **** on PCM didn’t do anything. Volume on new unit goes up and down, wireless CarPlay works, GPS works, steering controls work… just no sound…
Ordered an amp just now from Ottopart that claims to be working and operating… I guess I’ll try that next weekend and see if I can finally get sound on this head unit or the original.
