'16 Diesel hates hot weather!
During the past few days, my wife noticed (and I confirmed) a real drop in power for our '16 Cayenne Diesel during our Dallas heat wave (108-109 Deg on Sat and Sun). The lag feels like extended turbo lag and you have to really floor the pedal to get a response - mainly from a standstill or rolling start low in 2nd.
Wondering if anyone else has noticed something similar.
Of course, I'm not too responsive due to the heat either, so can't be too hard on the car...

Yes
We noticed the same thing.
When the Heat and Humidity gave a heat index of over 100, our Cayenne diesel was sluggish.
It was wheezy.
Now, both Heat/humidity are fine. The diesel performs like a beast!

well it's turbocharged, the cooler the ambient air temperature, the denser the compressed air. The coolant temperature will also be hotter, oil temperature will also be hotter - so yes, the cooler the air temps the better the car will run and the more power it will make. There are ways for people to mitigate this on Forced Induction cars:
- larger intercooler to cool the intake charge
- methanol or water after cooler injector

Has it had the fix done or no?
Is this your first summer with it?

My 2015 runs fine in hot weather. No stumbles or rough idling on start. Ran 325 miles of fast highway last week. One half of that was in heavy traffic with air temps in the mid to high 80s. It was flawless. I'd suggest a dealership visit for a diagnostic scan. Alternatively, perhaps you pumped some mediocre quality fuel?
Good luck.
Good luck.

Is 107* a problem? It shouldn't be; there should be no noticeable reduction in power. They do test these things in both cold and hot environments.
Does the fix do something to narrow the "normal" operating temp range? I don't know... have not seen anything to that effect.

This is our first summer with this one (the 2016 CD replaced a 2014 CD earlier this year). Our 2014 had the fix done and I didn't notice any change in the drive, but never had it in such hot weather...

I have the same issue. I'm in PA and even when the temps are under 90 it is a real drag. Feel like I'm going to blow out the transmission. I need to floor it to get moving and then once the turbo kicks in i need do back off quickly. Thought the AC Compressor was causing the drag on the engine. The dealer just replaced the AC compressor and no difference in power. Didn't think diesels had turbo lag. I have a 2016 CD with the dieselgate modification. Purchased it after the modification was performed so I don"t know if it had any impact. Tried running in sport mode and it still had the turbo lag off the line. Once moving she is fine, but going from a dead stop and up a hill is the worst. Glad I have a good warranty I think I'm going to need it.

As everyone knows, these cars have lag due to the turbo ... it's something I had to get used to after driving a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT as my last car. Talk about instant acceleration! You could injure a passenger with the neck snapping acceleration if you didn't warn them.
With that said, it has been an adjustment for me to gauge when I could pull out into traffic from a dead stop vs the SRT. My 2015 CD has been fantastic over the 5 months and 20 k miles so far. Highway driving ... handling and torque at speed have been more than I expected before buying it.
By the way, I wouldn't own one of these without the 5 more years of bumper to bumper warranty. I plan on logging over 250k on this thing.
