Update! Got the CD back this morning. Dealer replaced the catalytic converter, both EGT's and flashed the newest software on the DME. CD drives as it should now, very good throttle response. Guess only time will tell if this turns into a recurring issue or not. They have several other CD's in their shop with the same problems.

I have a feeling Porsche will either end up buying all of these back from us, or having several software revisions to fix this behavior...

Default Def fault Cayenne diesel

I’ve had my 2015 Cayenne Diesel at the dealership twice now for a check engine light accompanied by “def fault” warning. The first time they replaced the def heater. They also drained the def tank and refilled it, claiming that the def that I had filled the tank with was not the proper def. I used the same def that I use in my GMC Duramax, my Audi diesels and my diesel tractors with no problems. The second time the dealer drained the tank and reset the system telling me again that the def was not the correct def. Porsche says to use ISO 22241-1 product. I don’t think any def sold in the United States isn’t. They didn’t say I had to buy def from them, but that Napa or Auto Zone carries the correct def. This sounds like nonsense to me, especially after reading this thread.

I’m going to buy Blue Def from Walmart and take it to the dealership to confirm with them the specs on what I’m putting in the car. I’m pretty sure the check engine light and “def fault” are going to reappear.

I learned something today...Home Depot of all places stock DEF in both the Peak variety as well as Shell Rotella. Both meet the ISO 22241-1 standard.
