Default How to remove tailpipe covers?

I’m looking to paint the tailpipe covers on my Cayenne black. I crawled under the car today and can’t figure out how to remove them. What kind of screw is this? This looks like a rivet, not a screw. I tried an Allen wrench but it doesn’t work. Anyone know how I can remove them?

Look at your first picture. See the 6-pointed star shaped nut / screw attached to a collar looking flange? Remove that. No need to mess with the rivet...

What he said, just loosen that and you can pull them off. I used Plasti-Dip on mine about a year ago and they still look great. Couldn’t have been any easier!

You cannot remove just the tip covers - they are secured by a rivet. However, you can remove the complete tip - loosen the star shaped nut next to the ball joint.

Ahh. That explains it. I thought the tip covers were removable.

Thank you!

Looks like a pop-rivet. Might be one on top too.. you can just drill the head and remove the rivet, and pop a new one in once you're done..
