2016 base DIY Brake/Rotor Question
Im approaching 20k miles on my 2016 Base Cayenne. It has been rock solid so far and is probably the best daily driver car I've ever owned. I've heard that this car eats brakes so I have a couple of questions:
1. How many miles do you get on average for a set of pads and rotors? I hear 20k is the average but I dont know this for sure. I was planning on doing it in the spring.
2. Can someone post a link to the best DIY for changing brakes and rotors? I know there are several and some threads point to other threads and it gets to be falling down a deep rabbit hole. Is there a definitive DIY I can use?
3. In this DIY is there a good list of all the specialized tools I need in order to do the work? I'm especially referring to the VW rods that lift the front caliper off the rotor and some of the weird triple square style sockets.
4. My current brakes squeal like crazy especially in warm weather conditions. I took it to Porsche in the Summer and I asked them to put some anti squeal copper grease or silicone on the backside of the pads and they refused saying that they are not allowed to perform warranty work that isn't 'by the book' and Porsche apparently doesn't believe in antisqueal grease.
I've changed pads and rotors in numbers cars in the past (Porsche 964, BMW wagons, Merc CLS 550) so I'm comfortable doing the work I just want to make sure I've got all the specialized equipment with me in house before doing the work.
thanks!

That video is for an older Cayenne with open back rotors. For a 2016 the calipers are closed and must be pulled to access the pads. Try this one: https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...cayenne-2.html

Thanks for the replies. I've got Esco jacks so I think they'll hold the car. The reason I ask I that when I took thecae in to have the brake squeal looked at I had 15,000 miles on the car and they told me the rear pads had 50% left on them. That seemed like a lot of wear for the mileage. Also my wife's sister had an Audio Q7 and she needed new pads rotors after roughly 20k miles. I also have a friend with an old Touareg and he said he only got about 20k miles out of his brakes.
Hopefully I'll get 40k miles of life out of them because changing them is not something I'm looking forward to.
