'05 CTT Coolant T broke - need some guidance

Default '05 CTT Coolant T broke - need some guidance

As the title says, on my 2005 CTT, one of the coolant T's decided to let go. What a mess. Will order replacement T's shortly, but wanted to know if removing the intake is a must for this job. I tried searching but everything I found includes replacing the coolant pipes which clearly needs the intake removed. Anyone BTDT? Any words of advice?

I don't know if it's possible to do this without removing the intake, but I do know removing the intake is a piece of cake. Draining the fuel is super easy versus other cars are done, and removal of the intake is easy and gives you the opportunity to replace the gaskets.

Additionall, when I did this last time, I shipped my injectors off to Witch Hunter, to have cleaned and tested.

Well I decided there's no apparent way to do it without taking the intake off. So I am now half way to having it off. Man this sucks ball sacks!

Where do you find such an awesome tool? I did that work and instead bloodied nearly every knuckle! I could have used that!!

THey are called cable hose clamp pliers. They can be had at just about any mechanics tool place.

It's really not a bad job..though it was the only time the pig left me stranded. My fault because I had the intake off a week prior and noticed the tee's were covered in a pink paste. $200 in parts and coolant and an afternoon of my life and it was all done - just get the flexible hose clamp pliers. I dont see how it would be possible otherwise. Sears sells one that works well for $40.

I completed the job without, just used very small vice grips. But I am definitely going to get a set of those, however. Learn something new every day.

Got the "remote clamp" ordered and all my parts. Got the intake off yesterday without too much drama, Still don't see how you access this stuff back there.. It's tight. I'm sure it will become more obvious whent he replacement parts arrive and I can really get into it.

As John Veniger said in the A-Z thread, "It's easier to work on a 928!" So true!

I would be lying if I didn't say that my internet search history contains a lot of used F-150's...

May I suggest getting the non plastic ones. Just saying because I wish I did the jagsthatrun updated ones the first time the T's went.

I had to take the intake off on mine to access. I used new hoses which meant ordering the plastic T's from Porsche and using hoses and clamps. If we all knew to do all the little things at once these engine are actually very reliable. Good luck!
