Default GTS Brakes - Big Reds?

Are the brake calipers on a 957 GTS technically "Porsche Big Reds" or just large red calipers?

Not 100% sure about the GTS but they are definitely big reds o my 09 Turbo S. If the replacement part number is the 19" rotor then they are big reds. Otherwise they are just red brake calipers.

My GTS has 350mm front rotors, which is, if I read correctly, is the larger of the two possible rotor sizes. 330mm and 350mm

Generally speaking "Big Reds" traditionally refer to the 964 Turbo 3.6 / 993 Turbo Calipers. These were / are a very common upgrade on 911/944/928/968s. Yes your brakes are big, and yes they are red

Also worth noting your GTS brakes are LARGER than these

My understanding is that these sizes (330mm and 350mm) are not big reds. The big reds are the 380mm found on the Turbo S models. I actually took my big reds off my 09 Turbo S and put on a full PB 8 pot brake kit. Slightly more than OEM replacement but it looks great and has incredible stopping power compared to OEM. Besides, you don't want to mess with the 380mm rotors so be glad you have the smaller. They are very expensive and extremely heavy to work with.

+1

My 09 957 Turbo S has 380x38 mm front rotors and the large red calipers too

I'm installing a set of PCCBs on mine in the next couple months once the widebody conversion is completed - virtually no dust and probably no brake work for the life of the vehicle (maybe a set of pads at 80,000-100,000 miles or so). I'll be putting my OEM brake kit up for sale at that time - 28,000 miles on them.

957 GTS's had the same 350mm rotors as on the S, but with red painted calipers. The 368mm were on the 08 Turbo, and the 380mm on the 957 Turbo S.

Yep, $2500 just in parts to do the brakes on my '05 CTT with the ie81 package. Just the 380mm two piece rotors were about $1900 of that. I wish I had known about PB before. Maybe next time. I can get a complete new front set up for LESS than what it cost me for just the two rotors!!!

I looked all over the place. Woulda, shoulda, coulda.
