I just got a Cayenne Turbo today. Out and about I decided to get on the highway and give 'er. Passing 160km/h and I hear a loud beep and a message in the center console. "Limit Exceeded"
What the f&$*&*#^%#$.
I never heard this message in my 996 before. This is a Porsche for heavens sake.
Going thru the manuals, I can not find why or where to disable this message or what it truly means. Any info is appreciated!!!

Look in the main menu by using the controls on the right stalk.
There you will find how to set a speed limit and how to disable it.

and if by "center console" you mean the PCM screen, there is another set of limit warnings you can set via the PCM buttons, separate from the stalk.
These are handy warnings one can set to be reminded of when to be extra-vigilant for cops, etc. It is just an user-defined chime, no big deal.

You're right. 911s don't come with these annoying messages - as far as I know but I've never gone past 140mph in our 996.
When I purchased my Audi S4 a few years back, the same thing happened. I thought it was the most annoying thing to have a warning sound come on when going over 85mph so I set all the warnings to 150mph. I believe there were 2 sets of warnings, a lower and an upper.

My 996 has exactly the same function. So does every BMW I've driven.
I sometimes use it, actually, on long trips in unfamiliar territory. It can be a useful warning.
If you don't like it, turn it off. What's the big deal?

it`s a cool feature and very useful when you have speed limited wintertires
mounted. I would prefer if this feature also limits the engine by reaching the limit like for eg in a benz, unfortunally its only visual but better than nothing.

Or, as someone once said, "break it in like it was stolen!"

The RoW 2004 Cayenne S no longer has the speed limit function on the display. You can only set the speeds via the PCM.
Is this the same for the US '04 S ???
