Repair of alcantara in '09 GTS
I'm about to purchase a low mileage '09 GTS. In assessing the truck, I've noticed that the driver's side door pull (which is covered in alcantara) is fully "pilled." It looks a bit grungy, but worse is it FEELs grungy, and I'll be touching it at least 2 times a day.
So, anyone have experience on 1) procuring this part (lots of ways to buy the interior-facing cover) and 2) actually doing the replacement. I can't find any instructions, but it appears that it is necessary to fully disassemble the door panel to replace this part.
In general, for other pieces of alcantara that get regular handling, what is your experience?

I have the same issue with my 09 GTS as well as the flat portion of the driver seat (I have leather dash but not complete leather seats). From everywhere I've looked it appears you have to take apart the door. The rest of the alcantara looks great though for a vehicle with 105k miles. You could try sonax alcantara cleaner. Or ask a detail shop what they use for alcantara.

I too have alcantara, who ever thought it was a good idea to put this in seats should be shot.
I tried several products, nothing really works very well. I have also used a lint shaver for sweaters, that did do a good job removing the little matt *****, or what ever you call them.
Still not perfect but much better.
you need to be careful and not scrub it too hard.

I had the tan alcantara in an '09 GTS and had very good success cleaning it with Woolite and a wet microfiber cloth. To fix the nap problem, I used a brush with relatively soft brass bristles. Gentle brushing seemed to restore the suede-like finish...

One of the main reasons I bought my 14 GTS is it came with the full leather option and the alcantara is only on the pillars and headliner. It might be the dumbest idea ever to have that material on the parts that have to be touched every time you drive the car. Looks cool for about 5 minutes until the oils from your skin start to rub off on it.

Consider yourselves lucky that you don't own an earlier 997 GT3. The alcantara steering wheels on these cars soil easy and are very hard to restore.

I have a 2010 Transsyberia with the GTS Alcantara interior...The Wheel does get a bit dirty from hand oils, but i have found that a cloth soaked with warm/hot water will remove the grime with gentle soaking and scrubbing. Pat dry with clean cotton towel ... Like new.
I have have had the same success on seats when showing dirt. Plain water is the best as it doesn't leave a residue.

I use a damp microfiber cloth with a little bit of rubbing alcohol to clean my alcanara steering wheel. To remove the pilling on my seats, I used 600 grit sand paper using light pressure and then vacuum the pills up as not to sand more than needed. The pills are gone and the seats look like new.
