Installed a new NAPA MaxDrive CV with the included stretch bolts. Now 900 miles later - the CV starts popping on full-steering lock reversals and a dull "thud" whenever the car shifts. Tonight, I hear a pop and clanging coming from the driver's side CV. Look underneath and five of six bolts freaking backed-out!
Did the torque of the CTT back all these Chinese bolts out or did the lack of Loctite and final torque under load contribute? Either way, the CV is shot. Thanks for Manufacturer Warranties..... but the reinstallation fuss factor really blows.

YIKES! A couple of months ago I considered that very part because it was cheap and very convenient, but I decided to take the original strut apart and redo the boots. Torquing the six bolts to 60 pounds was a challenge. Next time Ruby's up on the hoist I'll check them. Thanks for the warning.
Yes, they all need Blue Loctite #242. Actually, the NAPA CV is pretty decent quality. Where I royally screwed-up was in using the new NAPA Chinalloy bolts with the Schnorr half-moon washers. Big Mistake. The NAPA bolts are 2mm shorter and was not designed to work with the half-moons. Combined that with not using threadlocker....was a recipe for disaster...

The studs I removed from my 2004 S had no residues on them to indicate that there was any Locktite in the original installation. They were tight, though.
Second go-around, I got another warranty NAPA axle and used new OEM VW Touareg V10 CV bolts and blue Loctite everything down to 60ft/lbs. Crossing fingers...
