Putting together a tool bag for the P!g. What would you include?

I carry a basic set of tools like you guys. But the main thing I try to avoid is getting stranded at work or on the way someplace. These are the things that will get me home:
- Harbor Freight air compressor. I can pump a flat tire up and make it to a tire shop without getting my work clothes dirty.
- Jumper cables. To either jump my car or to help someone else as needed.
- Coolant. Just in case something pops along the way, I have a gallon of coolant which should hopefully be enough to get me home even if something is leaking. I learned to carry coolant when I owned BMWs!
- something to lie on, and some rags to wipe my hands. Just in case I need to get under the car for any reason.

This is so true Don! I wonder if members over at the Lexus and Acura forums are hoarding tools in their cars...

Thing is - nothing goes wrong with them. It would be like a forum for Whirlpool refrigerators - there is only so much to discuss with an appliance.

Oh - one other thing that stopped me from carrying a lot of tools in the Cayenne. I doubt if you're ever more than 50 miles from a Harbor Freight. There are 3 of them within 20 miles of me. And believe it or not - they have some sales! Like always (has anyone ever paid "retail" at HF?) No need to carry a bunch of tools around when you can get the tool brand new and cheaply almost anywhere in the US.

Duct tape, of course, and electrical tape.
Had a plastic company make a box the covers the whole rear with compartments and about 6" high to carry it all. Opens with hinges from the top.covered with tool drawer non-skid and with bungees to hold **** on top of it.

Here's what I carry:
AA card
TirePlug kit
Extra oil
I'm not wrenching on this thing side of the road.
When I'm on long drives/weekend drives in my antiques I have a small tool bag I carry that has the basics.

I've seen several offroad setups with a box like you describe. Pretty handy for those situations where you're in the woods and rocks have gotten the better of your suspension. Some of the hardcore Jeep folks would really go overboard with onboard compressors, air tanks... even welding gear. Mall crawlin' is most the GTS is likely to see any time soon.
Realistically I'm far more likely to call road service if/when anything goes wrong with the Porsche.
But there's been a few situations where I come across some poor soul stuck somewhere and help them with a temporary fix. If just to pay back all the times someone's helped me in the past... or didn't.
