Clunking Sound
Lately when driving over bigger holes on the road or over curbs, I've started to hear a pretty audiable "Clunk". It seems to come from both sides at the front and I swear I can hear it at the rear too. If I drive on pothole filled unpaved forest roads its just going "clunck-cluclunclunk-clunk" like a small concert. What the hell could it be?
I will find out in a month when my major service is, but I wonder what I should prepare for. Dealership suggested anti-rollbar bushings/attachments.
Both rear upper Control arms and the front lower Control arm main bushings (?) have been changed a month ago.
957 Turbo
P.S No, I don't mash over potholes at full speed every day.

I read on another thread recently the account of a cayenne owner replacing damn near the entire front end to eradicate a clunk to no avail. Finally he traced it to the upper strut mount—an inexpensive bit that wears out but requires removing the front struts to access. Sway bushings are cheap and "easy" to do so hopefully thats your problem.

There is a thread started on 10-29-2015 - "Klunky noise from front wheel" - that describes what you are experiencing. I had the same noise, mechanic confirmed the same outcome as described in the thread...
Good luck!

Thanks for the replies, the upper mounts seem logical. It's only a 3,5h job anyway, though you need to have teh car re-aligned.
btw, I just started thinking, as my car has PDCC - does it even have a normal swaybar with standard swaybar links and bushings?

Most likely upper strut mounts. I just chased the clunk down and ended there. Make sure you get the o-ring seal and the grease if you have the air suspension. I didn't replace mine the first time because i wan't aware and ended up having a leak.

I recently replaced all my front suspension bits and the upper mounts on 2005 CTT with 118,000 miles and found one of my mounts in three pieces. I had a clunk that is now gone - I suspect it was the shock mount but since I replaced everything at once its impossible to be sure.
The picture below also shows the o-ring and shock rod nut that requires an impact wrench or special tool to remove. More info here https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...ont-wheel.html

So, the clunking sound is now gone. It was the brake pads, as they had not changed the springs in the caliper that keeps the pads in place while replacing my brakes, and the pads where moving around. The Turbo pads are so big and heavy that it really sounded like something was bad in the suspension.
