Looking for a approximation on having engine mounts replaced on a 955 Turbo .....getting a bit of a vibe at 110k how big of a nut should I squirrel away as I know 928s and nothing about this truck, only have it a month and all the nickle and dime crap is fixed

At the very least, engine pull required. My wrench can do it for $450...

$450 for CTT motor mount replacement? If that's not a typo, please give a little more detail. Do you do the work yourself?

Dealership quoted $1800. They have to drop the engine. $450 is one hell of a bargain.

My go-to wrench is a former dealer-trained, race mechanic. However, he's a felon(recovering AA) who always in need of fast, tax-free cash. I buy the parts.....he does the job! He has replaced the clutch on my 944 for $150/labor.

That's the best way to get **** done right there.

To the OP, you sure its the bottoms and not the upper engine mount?

Can't be sure if it's top or bottom , I don't see any movement of the engine but I can feel the motor

Seems like it's fairly common for someone replacing the plugs to *** up the top mount when they change plugs. As cheap and easy as it is I'd replace the top first and see if it helps.

I'll second that about checking and changing the upper mount or aka torsion arm. You have to remove it to inspect it on the body side. Mine was completely shot at 81K. Here's a link to another poster documenting the replacement. Scroll down to post #26

Just checked the upper dog bone strut type mount it seems a little loose kinda like its clunking, I guess there should be no play at all in this piece ?

I changed my upper engine torque arm when i did plugs and coils. It helped reduce a rattle but didnt have any affect with the slow down shudder i get. I know im just going to have to do engine mounts at some point to remedy that. I also get a shimmy at highway speeds but thats likely my control arms.

Correct, should be no play in it. Hopefully that cures it for ya.

I have the shudder as well. As the engine mounts age, they shrink a bit and they're ability to reduce vibrations is reduced. I'm ok with that. I'll do them if I have to pull the motor for something else, but I just think of them as getting closer and closer to solid engine mounts
