Default Super optioned 09 Turbo S but no heated steering wheel?

Hey gang,

Not new to Porsche, but with my C4S put away for winter I recently picked up a super well optioned 2009 Cayenne Turbo S. New to Cayenne. 2 questions of our Rennlist experts:
1) Have Porsche full factory build sheet and unit was $143,170 MSRP new in 2009. Right after the 2008 financial fiasco, someone unaffected paid a bunch of dinero for this sweet ride. HEATED STEERING WHEEL: Full wood interior trim including wood multifunction wheel. It's cold in Ohio and I don't think the heated steering wheel is working (standard on Turbo S). Read on the forum that if you have the wood multifunction wheel ($1680 option) you loose the heat? Is that true? Hard to believe
2) I have significant whining in the engine compartment. I understand its the PDCC pump, but its really annoying. Is there any remedy, or are they all that way?

The option only heats the leather side grips - you're not feeling any heat there?

Wood wheels generally don't have heat (there is a special woven fabric that is wrapped that conducts and the wood and carbon fiber wheels don't have.). Or as OP listed, it won't be in the wood portion itself. Perhaps this steering wheel was added after if your original build list shows heated?

As for the noise, it might be one of the pulleys/ perhaps idler. Open hood and try to identify if possible.

No heat in the wood wheels. I wanted a wood wheel in my 2008 CTT, but when I found out the heating goes away, I stuck with my plane jane leather one.

Hope you sort out the noise. I have a small noise on warmup that is driving me crazy and I cannot figure out what it is.

Cheers,
TomF

Not sure when the option was changed but 2016 has heated, multi-function wood steering wheels as an option...and as I said in post 2 and confirmed by others, the wood doesn't heat, just the leather grips on each side.

Thanks to all who responded. It doesn't heat on the sides on this 2009 Cayenne Turbo S. IMHO that gloss wood gets as cold as the soft leather wrap. Maybe worse. Heated wheel IS standard on Turbo S, but in 2009 it appears you sacrifice the heat for the fancy multifunction wood wheel. Glad they changed that on the newer models.

Both dealer and my very competent Indy have stethoscoped the sound to the dual PDCC/power steering pump. Both say it's a common complaint on Turbo S with PDCC, meaning all of them. I know the turbo S is a bit rare. Just wondered if other Cayenne Turbo S owners had same noise issue. Or do all Cayennes with PDCC have that idle whine noise issue. Ha - even the kid in the drive thru said "hey man - something wrong with your car. Better get that checked" LOL. Didn't expect that. Like with the C4S put away - I like em to be as close to perfect as possible. Wish there was a solution. ;-(

My Turbo PDCC/Steering pump whines. It does sound like something is wrong.
Its a shame Porsche couldn't design a quiet system on $100K plus vehicle......
