Default K&N?

Anyone try a K&N filter in a second gen V6 - or any 958 for that matter?

In my experience you just get a little better noise. And that ain't a bad thing. But potential MAF problems are always a possibility.

Stay away from k&n. Lots of
negative info out there. If you are going this route I recommend bmc. Porsche racing actually uses them, proven increase in power ( small, but dyno evidence out there), and the quality is better.

Ralph, go ahead and pull the trigger on the Fabspeed exhaust and BMC filter combo. Once I hear your Cayenne, I can then decide if I want to add that stuff to mine.

Waves at Robert

To be honest, watching the video I thought the FabSpeed V6 setup was sorta over the top. I mean, if you really needed that sound you should have bought an S or TT.

K&N trades filtration for airflow. And even then, the airflow increases make basically zero difference in performance.

Plus, any re-usable air filter is a huge pain in the *** to clean.

K&N makes drivers more sensitive; they think they can feel two HP with their ***.

Check your oil analysis. I bet your motor isn't loving it. People that switch to those type of filters typically see an uptick in Si from more dust and sand getting passed the filter. You may also see an increase in iron, as a result. Pretty common Result for KN filters. More often than not, people don't get completely uniform oil coverage. When they do, it often caused MAF problems. I use K&N filters on off-road vehicles and dirt bikes, but paper filters would never last in those environments.

IMO, using a K&N style filter is worse for your car than the paper filter. There is no performance gain, it requires more work when changing them, causes more wear, and can lead to premature MAF failure.
