Default Possible transfer case isue

I have a thumping that is occurring as I accelerate and goes away as you apply less throttle and come up to speed. I thought it was the center support bearing but that looks fine. The local P dealer drove it and feels it is the transfer case. After some additional research I am hearing there was a line bore issue during manufacturing that can cause bearing failure. Porsche has not issued a TSB but it is a known issue. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks

Is it a constant thumping, or a single thud? If it's thumping, does the frequency increase with speed?

The symptoms are a slight jerk when neither accelerating nor deccelerating at highway speeds. The problem is that it does not occur on a constant basis.

First thing to check is that all four tires are evenly worn; as one worn tire on the same axle can produce the same effect.

A year into ownership of the GTS, the same symptoms appeared. The dealer's tech initially thought that it may have had something to do with the electronic throttle ***'y but the PIWIS ruled this out. The transfer case was replaced and the symptoms went away.

My problem is as follows: as I first accelerate the first 1-2 seconds are fine and then as I continue to accelerate I start to feel a thump, thump, thump that seems to speed up as the speed increases and stops as I reduce throttle. That's it!! Once at cruising speed all is fine.

Sounds like this is not a very common issue. Dealer doesn't anything on any transfer case issues with my VIN. So, what to do??

I had my 2011's transfer case replaced under CPO warranty for thumping from a stop noticed mostly when accelerating slowly; ask your service guy about advanced technical info document #3965.

Please keep us advised, Mike! Seems like I may be experiencing similar symptoms...
Interestingly, mine appears to do better when hammering on it, though! Took it out on a "spirited" run during Porschepalooza on Saturday, and it shifted fine while generating less shudder. Maybe because I was on the throttle the majority of the time. Driving into work this morning, I seemed to feel it more in regular mode and easy/half throttle scenarios.

i have more of a thumping when accelerating not so much a of a shudder. A shudder should like trans unless it is the clutches in the transfer case.
