It sounds terrible. Regular car horn sounds normal, but the alarm sound sounds like a failed horn.

OK - will have to try replacing the siren horn and see if that helps.

Mine too sounds like I did two quick bumps on the horn, 'beep beep'. Kinda like the Roadrunner, but a bit deeper in tone, LOL.

Mine has two beeps from audible to pathetic. lol Although I think something is wrong as my 05 CTT was good. Also the lights on and signal on warning chimes do not activate when i turn the ignition off and pull out the key.

PET shows two horns (high and low fanfare) with one being a left and one being a right. It also shows a separate alarm siren 95561823701 for about 160 bucks. Just gotta figure out where the hell it's located at.

Figured it out - it's under the e-box - next to the brake reservoir. E-box needs to come out to access it. Porsche manual makes it seem like it's not that tough - pull the harnesses, remove the tray - siren is right there. Well see if I can verify this is what's making that noise. I picture some ridiculous animated disney character with a snotty nose every time I like the car. What an annoying sound!

My '04 sounds exactly like that...Road Runner sound. First time I heard it, I couldn't help but smile.
When the alarm goes off, it is very loud and clear.

My alarm sounds just like my video. The car has a high and low pitched horn - I wonder if it's one of those? I guess I'll have to do some digging this week.

Cayenne horns are a known weak point. The horns face up and collect with water over time. Even brand new the tone is a bit imasculating and it only gets worse from there. Some owners replace them with a more robust horn. You can get to them through the front wheel liners but the plug is a ****ing bitch to unplug and you may turn into a sailor. I recommend rum.

I think Porsche has always used separate horns. My 928 has two actual trumpets (coolest sound ever) and then a separate normal looking car horn for the alarm which sounds like the Cayenne's alarm.

Only complaint I have with the Cayenne is that the ignition must be ON to use the horn. It's the only car I've ever owned like that and imo should be against DOT regulations.

I was just at the car and the lock chirp isn't coming from the front horns. It's up by the cowl, so I'm guessing they use a separate siren for the alarm.

I'll be ordering one in a few weeks, and will post up the results.
