Have you gone back in to see if the little magnet is still in place?

Magnets. Check the pelican parts diy. This is a very common thing.

I did open it up and see that the 2 magnets are still on the shift gate trim... Are there more? Is there a corresponding one on the shifter cover?

I did check with Pelican website, didn't see any more than that... did I miss something?

tx,

Pup

There are just two magnets. The circuit board above it is held in place under little tabs, make sure it is fully seated.
The little shutters that are part of the shift gate shade must be in place along with the outer tube that goes into the shift ****. If the shutters broke or popped off leaving a large hole, nothing will work right.
Also unplug the electrical connector and check that none of the pins got bent or broke off during reassembly.

If those are ok, it may be a bad circuit board or a wire that was cut or chewed through by a mouse.

You may be onto something! Where are these tabs?

I Don't remember seating the circuit board on any tabs!

The board is slightly curved to match the housing and should fit firmly flush against it with no movement.
There are several very small plastic protrusions to hold it in place. Mine popped free when pulling the assembly up and free of the electrical connector. It didn't come completely off, but just enough to make it loose and move out of position.

Mine is seated in the 10 pin socket but not on the shifter cover.... sounds like it should fit in place on the shifter cover... I was able to put on the shift gate cover , then the circuit board , then the cover.. From the pix I have seen , it looks like the circuit board and the shifter cover should be together first, then snap on...

I'll take it apart later and look at it..

Thanks!

Yes, it should stay with the top cover and have no movement. Everything seems fragile, so gently get it locked back into place.

Did you replace the accordion shade due to damage? If so, check the white plastic housing on each end (cylindrical portions where the shade rolls into) for coins! I had a dime in mine that bound everything up causing tearing and the sliding shutters to crack.
The Pelican how to doesn't mention removing that lower plastic housing but luckily I did, otherwise I would have ruined the new gate shade.
I rattled it around like a piggy bank until it fell out.

The only reason I replaced the shfit gate was because I was told that it may fix this issue... When I opened it up, the old one wasn't torn or broken...

I took it apart last night, made sure circuit board was seated , put it all back together , no change... I am beginning to wonder if the circuit board is bad? Wonder if it's available seperatly?

Would like to know for sure what the issue is before buying parts, but willing to try if no way to test.

What triggers these magnets on the shiftgate anyway?

Also, no coins or objects in the area... everything moves freely...

Spoke to the guys at ECS Tuning and they suggested I swap out the these:

Tiptronic Selector Microswitch With Harness

Brand:

ES#:1453796

Mfg#:95561304300
***************************

ELECTROMAGNET

Brand:

ES#:1454192

Mfg#:95562417001

I have ordered them.... We'll see if this fixes the issue....

Stay Tuned!

Honestly, we'd recommend to check the shift cable adjustment first before replacing the wiring harness. Is the tiptronic fine when you shift with the steering wheel buttons? Have you checked for any faults in the tiptronic control unit?

Oddly enough, I called Pelican Parts 1st... The guy I spoke to had no suggestions or ideas... and said he had never worked on one... I even asked if there was a Tech that I could bounce this off of, and he said only if I email via the link on the home page...

I was impatient and called ECS Tuning...

Yes, am throwing 1045 Selector Level Switch error and 1626 Battery voltage Terminal 30... 470 CAN Comfort in Single wire operation and 907 Load management operation on vehicle electircal system/DME Module...

If you have any thoughts, I am all ears....

Yes, shift fine with the steering wheel buttons and fine in D, Automatic... Just cannot manually shift with the shift lever...
