Default Request your feedback on 2009 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S

Hello Fellow Porsche Owners,

My name is Seth. I am preparing to purchase a 2009 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S with 60k miles and a clean carfax. I wanted to check with folks who own a Cayenne (turbo or not) for your feedback on reliability, etc. I know there is a risk with any med-high mileage used car but figured I would ask. I have had a lot of luck with used luxury vehicles thus far. I'll be coming from a high mileage Mercedes ML550, before that I had a high mileage Lexus Rx350.

I can't see any cons to buying the Cayenne Turbo S. I'm not concerned about gas mileage. I just wanted to make sure a fellow owner doesn't comment and say "Beware of the 60k mile turbo replacement required and is $20k" --- or something crazy like that. Any feedback or thoughts are greatly greatly appreciated, I'm planning to go purchase next week so I wanted to ask you all!!! Thank you for any feedback you may have.

Tons of high mileage threads on here, a quick search will yield great results.

That said I have an almost 150k 06 Turbo S and have no plans to get rid of it anytime soon. Quirks and all...

Second year into the face lifted cayenne should be a really reliable vintage. Aside from the potential for any used car to have a specific problem there is nothing inherently about turbo cayennes to be concerned about. Really the only small thing is that brakes will be spendy when the time comes.

I have an 09 CTTS... basically no problems. Only issue thus far was at 41K, a check engine light, which was due to a lazy thermostat. It would stay open on cold starts. This didn't seem like a problem to me, but Porsche mechanics didn't like it. They said it causes improper fuel mixing and emissions issues (hence the CEL), and that ultimately can contribute to premature failure of the catalectic converters... very costly on a Porsche. However, while fixing the thermostat they noticed one of the coolant pipe to block connections had signs of seepage. So as a preventative, I had them upgrade the coolant piping (two lines I believe) Yes, they 957s also have a problematic issue with poorly designed water pipes. Not like the earlier pigs, but still not completely w/o problems if you look in these threads.

If you haven't yet I would defiantly recommend taking a 11+ CTT for a test drive as it has 20 less horsepower but is noticeably lighter with a much more modern interior/ exterior making it a completely different animal for around the same price as a 09 CTTS.

Been very happy with mine. Yes, brakes and tires will be your biggest (hopefully) ongoing expenses. Make sure it has a good service history and go with your gut. It certainly won't be as bullet proof as your lexuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, but will probably be better than your benz. PM me if you want to discuss further. Mine has 63k on it and is a 2009 as well. Good luck!@

Default Got Heem.

Well thank you to those who responded. With your feedback and additional reading online I went ahead and pulled the trigger. I'm the new owner of a 2009 Cayenne Turbo S. MSRP was $131k in 2009 and I paid almost 100k less than that lol. She has 68k miles on her and can't wait to take her for a ride. Enough room for the family but enough horsepower to peel the paint off my Lexus.

I'll now be a member of this forum and will be scouring through the site for oil change info, DIYs, etc. I'll post some pictures as soon as it's in my driveway.... Well ok as soon as I get back from my first drive. It will be a week or so until delivery. Super excited to own my first Porsche, let alone one with 550HP. My wife will be so pleased with me.

Do NOT let your wife drive it. Unless you plan on looking for another one right away.

Congrats. They are pretty cool cars.
