Default Cayenne Diesel "Thermal Management" Standard Option

When looking at the build information on the Porsche Canada website, "Thermal management" is listed as a standard. A local salesperson at the dealership doesn't seem to be 100% certain on what this is. Can anyone please enlighten me?

Is it a block heater for cold climates?

I don't think that there is a block heater for these engines, unless the diesel is different in this way.

You are correct, there is no block heater available. The dealers are installing oil pan heaters (heated pad attached to oil pan via silicone or epoxy based goop).

So is the heat pad what they mean by "Thermal Management?" Local salesperson wasn't sure.

Default Diesel Thermal Management

From what I have read in the Porsche Cayenne Diesel booklet from Sun Coast the ECU is involved with all kinds of actions to allow fast warm up of oil, coolant and ATF. There is also a coolant pump that appears to run after shutdown to cool the turbo. I'm in FL so block heating is unknown...

This sounds right, but all this wouldn't be an option surely?

I`m pretty sure the auxiliary coolant pump is fitted to other VAG group vehicles I`ve had

There is a feature called Thermal Management on 997 engines but its description reads like a thermostat that got the Porsche marketing treatment.
