Thanks for the write up. I did it today and very happy with the result. Keep stock looking of the PCM and can stream music and blue tooth phone.
However, I have a question. when I disengaged the music and listened to regular radio, phone signal is not good. I can hear a lot of interferences. Have anyone had this problem and how do you fix it. Thanks
Anthony

I've had no issues with phone signal or audibility. Be aware that with the unit on, you can only hear the programmed FM station clearly because the antenna connection is electronically switched to the Tranzit. If you listen other stations, turn the Tranzit off. You can turn it back on instantly for BT if your phone rings.

just putting this out there since i want to part way with my old bose system and head unit that came in my 09 Cayenne making way for a JL Audio setup.
Right now what i have is a JL 750HD ,JL XD400/4 and a JL W7 10"...
Has anyone out there did a complete swap on there system and also can the Bose Speaker manage the JL XD400/4 amp?
I also will be selling everything from that unit including all the Bose amp and the head unit with navi.
What would be a fair asking price?

Since the unit uses an FM signal to connect to the PCM, its effectively disconnected from the PCM when you're listening to any other mode. You'd have to quickly switch the PCM to the assigned FM freq when the phone rings.

Thanks DWC, that's what I figured. I'm in a smaller town without much decent radio, so I'm always on Sat radio. I haven't acutally received my new to me CTT yet. I guess I'll wait until I get it to look for bluetooth options.

Had to chime in and say thanks for the write up. Got the Tranzit device installed and also hard-wired a V1 in at the same time. Brought the Cayenne into the future for not a lot scratch. Nice upgrade.

got the transit installed in 04 Cayenne. linked to iPad mini4. All my music and Waze/ Apple Maps/Google Maps/TomTom/MotionXGPS. Usually run with Music as primary and Waze in the "slide over". Works great. "Hey Siri" (like "skip song") makes it mostly hands free

Did you tap into the factory microphone? I just ordered my Tranzit and looking forward to the install. Wanting to keep the installation as clean as possible.

I considered using the factory mic but was concerned about compatibility with the Tranzit system. I didn't know the mic characteristics and was afraid the gain might be different and affect audio performance.
Here's what I did:
1. Using the Tranzit mic, I carefully sliced the housing longitudinally to split the casing and extract the mic. I then wrapped a few wraps of tape around it to insulate the wiring while adding some dimension to the mic so it would fit in the factory provision.
2. Removed the factory mic from the flexible housing, taped it up to insulate it and folded it back out of the way.
3. Removed the trim piece from the console frame. This contains the grill piece that covers the microphone. I drilled and reamed a hole in the trim piece so the button is a press-fit. As a back-stop, the console frame will provide pressure from behind to keep it from moving in the event the button is pressed too hard.
4. Re-assembled it and tucked the wires in the headliner and ran them down the A-pillar. You will need to add wire to the button in order to finish the connection.
5. Using a coat hanger, I fished the wires from the driver's side of the console into the radio cavity and made the connections.
If I'm feeling really bored, I may go back and paint the phone icon on the switch white to match the buttons on the console. This will complete the factory look I'm targeting.
Hope this helps.
