The "New to me" '06 CTTS build thread
So after looking for a bit I picked this up this weekend, a 2006 Cayenne Turbo S. Dealer brought it to me yesterday morning.
Exactly the color combo and options I wanted. Looked well cared for and carfax said the coolant pipes had been done. Made a deal and bought it.
Took it to my local Porsche dealer to get a new key made and programmed since it only came with one. They noticed it was leaking tranny fluid and suspect the torque convertor seal. Bummer, I'm hoping its something a little easier for them to fix.
Also a bummer was the "dipped beam" warning that came on last night for the headlights. Add that to the drivers seat back falling off. Looks like some garage time for me.
Last night I pulled both headlights out, removed the harnesses from the guides, firmly attached them to the headlights and reinstalled. So far, so good.
I also used Gorilla Glue and reattached the seat back. Still stuck on this am, so result!
Good news this morning when the other local dealer sent me all the service records on the truck. Turns out not only were the coolant pipes done, so were the coolant T, cardan shaft, hatch struts, coils, tpms sensors and the passenger headlight bulb and ballast.
A nice discovery was finding the original window sticker in the owners manual pouch. Sweet!
Plans for the truck are tinting the front windows to match the rears, adding bluetooth for my phone and maybe doing the secondary cat pipe deletes...

I was interested in the '08 CTT, but they were out of my price range. Oddly enough, not many of them for sale in Denver right now.
Some mods are planned right away, like tinting the front windows to match the rears. I'd also like to add a bluetooth module, what's the consensus on Denison vs Mobridge vs Dynavin etc?

on the headlights, you probably have it licked. those connectors are finnicky and a SLIGHTLY bad connection will give all sorts of headlight errors. manually installing the harness connections is the ticket.

Hey Doc, good to see you in a Cayenne. I would highly recommend the secondary cat delete, reasonably quiet till you get on it. I have your exact Cayenne at the shop right now with them bypassed.... I LOVE the sound when you get on it.

Still getting an intermittant dipped beam warning. Not all the time, I do notice that the drivers headlight seems to flicker sometimes...

Definitely check the bulb and see if it could be your culprit. We have a good DIY bulb replacement here that can be of some assistance.

Warning hasn't come on the last few days. Interesting. Guess I'll wait and see what happens....
Getting the front windows tinted to match the back ones tomorrow am.
I'm local to Hanksville and may pick up a set of their secondary cat pipe deletes tomorrow as well...

Yea the warning will be intermittent. If you look at the bulbs one or both will be very foggy in the middle bumped out part of the bulb. I drove for about 2 months with the intermittent warning until I finally changed the bulb out. Non foggy bulbs put out much more light.
