Default Tough decision for me.

I'm looking at 06 to 09 turbos and have my sights on an 06 turbo s with 45000 miles for 30k. Dealership maintained, coolant pipes swapped, owners son ownes a local exotic dealership that will sell it to me.
The other is a 08 turbo with 45000 miles in the low 30k also...not sure on that history yet.
Assuming the 08 is well maintained, would that be the better option for reliability? Is the performance close enough with the two of them that it shouldn't come into play wth my decision?
Thank you in advance!

I'll bite... If all things are equal, (maintenance history/upgrades, overall condition, etc.) I think it would have to come down to how important it is for you to have a Turbo S. There definitely is a bit of nostalgia, if-you-will, associated with it, regardless of performance similarities between the two. If it were me that would be slightly more attractive than a Turbo that is 2 years newer.

Personally, I would lean towards the S, although you can't go wrong either way.

Just my $0.02.

Does the '08 have the MOST fiber optic audio bus like the '06? Much as you may love the extra HP of the Turbo S, there'll come a time when you're thoroughly fed up with the 955's pre-2000 cell phone and audio interface tech.

Valid consideration.

The radio does come into play a little...although the 2008 doesn't really seem that much better to be a real factor. I may look into after market in that department either way. Not ever owning one of these I guess my biggest thing is reliability. I like the 2008 front end a little better. I am a DIY person so little things I can read about here will be done by me.
Is a fully maintained 4.6 just as reliable as a 4.8 all things equal or are do they both have there own issues?
Thanks again

In my opinion the 08 is a big step up, after owning an 04 CTT, the 08 and newer versions were noticeably better in a lot of aspects, drivability was a lot better from the ones I've driven. The turbo S is a valid option though, always carries a great nameplate.

Nothing aftermarket is compatible with MOST or Bose audio. If it uses the MOST f.o. bus, you have spend about $700 on an MOST-compatible box with Bluetooth, or replace the entire system.

I've extensively driven both an '06 TTS and I own an '08 CTT with PDCC. I would echo that the newer model is more refined, but in subtle ways. I also prefer the way the 4.8 revs to the 4.5l, but that is a personal opinion.

The TTS is a really fun car with tons of power, but with an '08, you are very close 500/516tq and a good tune will put you way over the TTS.

Hands down, if the '08 had PDCC, like mine does, I would go that route. The PDCC is an option that is simply amazing.

Best of luck with your choice!

Cheers,
TomF

If it matters, the 08 will be worth more in regards to resale-value for a few years, but I'd venture a guess that the tts' value will win out over time.
