Default Battery Tender - storage

Hi, I frequently use Battery Tenders on vehicles that I store during winter months. I don't intend on taking my CTT off the road during this time, but it will be parked coming up for about the next 5 weeks. I was going to put a Battery Tender on the battery to keep it fresh.

Is this a non-event just like any other car, or is there anything special I should be aware of with the Cayenne?

Thanks.

Do it. It won't hurt. If I'm not driving it, it's on the battery maintainer. Always.

I put my Battery Tender on if I think I'm not driving it for as little as a week. Just pop the cover on the hood there you have the ground post as well as the guarded positive lug.

I also keep mine on a battery tender with no problem. I recommend it. I did a little finagling with my plug so I don't have to pop the hood. I think I'll post that in the DIY section.

Yes, battery tender on anytime sitting for more than a couple days. I purchased the cigarette lighter port adaptor and plug into one of the rear outlets, makes it a little quicker.

Buy a Porsche or C-Tek battery maintainer. They have the ability to plug in right to your cigarette lighter to keep the battery charged.

Interesting. And the key doesn't need to be turned to accessory?

No. You should have at least one cigarette outlet that stays hot/live.

In fact, locking the Porsche will conserve power too.

My battery is gone after about a week of sitting. There's no way it would make it 5 weeks.

Yes definitely use the battery tender, didn't drive our Cayenne for about 4-5 weeks and it was dead. Had to use the 10AMP charger to bring the battery back to life, took 8hrs on 10AMP + rest of 16hrs on 2AMP mode to be fully charged.
The battery definitely need to be replaced but at least it has juice for me to access the battery under the driver's seat.

Dead or drained low battery really subtracts hard from the life of the battery. My advice is to never let the battery sit unattended for more than 2 or 3 days. Get the Porsche recommended Ctek charger (I got one with all the accessories for $99 on Amazon) and plug it in anytime u think u may not use the car in the next day or two. And be sure to plug it in if u are washing or waxing the car and running the stereo for a couple hours without running the engine. These high power stereos can really run down the battery in a hurry. Significant discharges are significantly negative events in the life of ur battery. Try to prevent them.
