$25k is quite high for a 2005 turbo. I would highly suggest an autotrader search set to "all distances" to really gauge the overall market.

I posted basically inquiring about the exact same scenario not too long ago, and got similar responses. Car will also be for my wife, predominantly. Only difference was at the time there were 2 vehicles that I had honed in on; an older Turbo and a newer S, for basically the same money. Turbo had almost half the miles.

I went with the Turbo. New tires and brakes (pads/rotors), coolant pipes upgraded, and new upper/lower control arms. Had to pay to have it shipped, but the overall package was too nice. Came from the dry SW, extra set of 20" Porsche wheels, service documentation since the day it rolled off the boat, etc.

Glad I went with the Turbo because had I not, I would have always wished I had.

These are all the things to check for in priority order based on cost:

1. Coolant pipes $3000 with new thermostat and starter installed.
2. Lower control arms 60,000 miles per. Cost is $500 plus labor.
3. Brakes $300 per axle after market plus labor. CTT Eats brakes and tires.
4. Cardan shaft $500 for bracket. Lasts about 50,000 miles.
5. Plugs and coils -$500 in parts. Couple hundred to do with the pipes. Last about 40,000 miles. Original coils will crack for sure so if you can't confirm they were done, they will need to be done.
6. Tailgate lifters - $200 in parts.
7. Heater servos get jiggy. Most just live with it. Sounds like a gremlin in the dash.
8. Remote door locks. Bad electronics. They get crazy and won't unlock - again live with it and use the key.
9. Headlight sockets fail to connect. You can get them to work if you play with it enough and seat them properly.

That's what I have learned in just a couple months reading these boards. Plan on $4000 to rehab the car if none of this was done. Value of a CTT with this list done and low miles is low 20s. For me it made no sense to make this investment in less than a turbo. With it all done, the car is incredible and the engine core is solid.

That is scary, over here about 15k for a 2005 is the high end of the market,

I had a heck of a time buying a Cayenne Turbo in the mid 20's with less than 50k miles on it last year. I had a pretty strict policy of no more than 2 previous owners, coolant pipes changed, and under 50k miles. Every car that met my criteria that was listed for sale by a Porsche dealer was sold within days at full asking price (most were mid 20's). There is no question that there is demand of low mileage CTT's so definitely keep your eyes pealed and be ready to act if that is what you are looking for. Good luck in the hunt. It took me 8 months to find mine and I'm glad its over too many other vultures to fight with and who beat me to the punch!
