Default 2006 V6 Service Reset

Hi,

How can I reset the service message please?

I've tried holding down the odometer button while ignition off and then keeping it pressed while turning ignition on, but dont get the service reset message.

Please help

Apparently this only worked on very early models before software updates were applied.

I think you need a Durametric tool or take it to an indy or a dealer.

Durametric tool is a good investment if you plan on keeping the car for a while. Saves a trip to the dealer for the reset and also allows you to read codes if needed.

Yes, the Durametric is a very good tool, (I use it on my 996 C4 Cab) with a caveat- it has challenges with the 957. It is not very useful at all on my '08. Earlier Cayennes are apparently fine, however.

It's basically a knock-off of the Durametric cable. Search the web and ebay and you can find several variants of this, mostly from China, using the Durametric software. Beware though, many of them will be permanently disabled the first time you try to use it as the Durametric software can recognize non-original cables and zap them. Just pay the $250 and get the real thing, its worth it.

Are most independent shops able to reset the service message?
