Turbo Oil Consumption question

Turbo Oil Consumption question
2 weeks into the TT experience-incredible.
The 996 hasn't left the garage since it arrived.
I used the arrival of the car for a vacation--and drove from Los Angeles to Crested Butte, Colorado, and the car has seen every type of driving experience in the past week -- high speed, high altitude, serious off-roading, even snow!
Immaculate performance...actually didn't mind driving 12 hours straight yesterday, with average speed around 105 through Colorado, Utah and Nevada. Incredibly smooth.
Question: in the middle of Utah, the oil light went on. I stopped and found it around the minimum mark (remember the car is 2 weeks old). The dealership had mentioned I should bring oil with me on the trip, and gave me 5 quarts of the Mobil One oil. I used 1.5 quarts and brought it back to just below Maximum line.
Just curious if this is normal, if I was mistreating the car somehow (was careful about the breakin period stuff and not over-revving), etc...
Feedback?
Thanks
Wes

Well, looking at the examples of other Porsche turbos, no, it's not abnormal to use a quart every 1,000 miles. That's after break-in. I wouldn't worry about it. Just keep an eye on the garage floor and the exhaust.

I only have 1200 miles on my Cayenne TT currently and haven't checked the oil level yet.
I'm expecting the same oil consumption as I've experienced with my 996 TT. The original story I got with my 996 TT was that the consumption would stop after the first 8k or so, after the rings had fully seated in the cylinders. What I actually found was that it got less severe, but it's evidently normal for it to consume a quart every 600-1000 miles.

Great-thanks for the feedback...unfortunately, I didn't get the manual yet (only the CD-Rom, which is not too useful when I'm mobile!)--will check the garage and exhaust too, but more important, just proactively check the oil for the first 6k or so...
By the way, shocking the number of comments/compliments/gawking I'm getting in this TT--at least 5 or 6 a day since I've had it. Porsche brand at work, I guess...
