I was thinking same too, based on the reading from the forums here H9s are very snug fit and are better rated for these cars. I am not sure if they are good for turbos only or Cayenne S too.

Sorry about that. Group 95r = H9, Group 48 = H8.

Default Update: The Rest of the Story

Update: I had the battery replaced at the local long time Porsche-only independent. They put in an Interstate MTP 49/H8 and charged me $197.95 plus tax for the battery and $126 labor to install it.

For a related thread see https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...available.html posts 1, 7 and 15.

So far, so good (knocking on wooden head).

I replaced my 4 year old Moll battery on 2004 Cayenne S with Autozones Duralast Gold H9/95R battery. Took me less than 1/2 hr to do it.

Very easy to replace the battery yourself as long as you have the proper tools. I would recommend that everyone own a set of the tripple square bits for many different repairs on the Cayenne. Does only take a few minutes to replace and I replaced it in the partking lot of Autozone on the last replacement. Save yourself some cash and jut buy a set of XZN bits.

XZN sockets are a must for these German cars.

If you want a correct German battery and need it quick, Pep Boys and Advance Auto Parts offer Bosch batteries.

I got a Napa battery for around $120 and my indy charged me $50 to put it in. It took him about 20-25 minutes.

Well, ..it is a VERY heavy item.
Yes, you can dyi it, but beside the saving, you may add few physiotherapy sessions ...for lower back pain ! ..And reduce your back life time !
In my side, after 7 years of good and loyal services of my original battery, I decided that the Porsche dealer cost at around US$ 500 was OK for 5 years and 108'000 miles.
..much cheaper than gas per miles !

if you have the tools its a quick and fairly straightforward diy.
i was getting quotes anywhere from $129 - $300 for the battery depending on brand warranty etc.
should be no more than an hours labour at garage
