Hi, first time owner and learning so much reading this forum! Is it really impossible to close the hatch remotely or is something wrong with both of my key fobs? Seems kind of silly that if my arms are full of packages that I have to reach up and depress the button to close the hatch. Thank you in advance!

You can't close the hatch with the key (silly if you ask me!).. however, when you jump into the drivers seat, hold down the close hatch button on the door for a few seconds, it will close until you let go.

The driver's hatch button closes it on my '14, but not my wife's '13. It is silly that the key fob won't close it.

And the real rub here? The VW Touareg's remote does open and close the hatch.

My sales guy said its a liability issue. Seems like VW has better lawyers. Lame.
