Default Programming the garage door opener

I've followed the instructions in the manual. No luck. Any hints?

patience, a beer or 2.

Move the transmitter around the roof location slowly. Its not the easiest in the world to program but it does work

Also make sure you have a new battery in the remote. I think it took me 3 times to program the first time.

+1 on the new battery. I tried over and over... swapped the battery and worked the first time.

In addition to fresh batteries you may find that you need to program it using a large remote and not one of those tiny "slim" remotes.

I have been trying using the regular sized remotes that clip on your visor.

I tried several times to program the homelink, without success. The LED did everything the manual said it would do, but it would not actuate the door. Figuring it was transmitting something, I paired it to my garage door opener like you would a new remote and now it works.
I had wiped out the previous programming before trying to pair it to my opener.

Well what I did is place pepper close to main unit(genie) that runs the garage opener. Follow what ever the cayenne manual says. At least with my genie there's a button that u push to program and u have a certain amount of time once u depress it. It worked for me. Mike

How many different locations have you programmed already? My opener has a limit of 6 I believe. Last go around I had to clear the codes from the garage opener and start over.

I only have 3 houses so only programmed 3 : ). Jk. I've only done 2 different garage openers so far. Main thing that worked for me is getting cayenne close to garage opener for a better signal. Tried from outside of garage- did not work til I got it closer. Mike

How close the Cayenne is to the garage door shouldn't have anything to do with programming the Homelink, homelink gets it's programming from the remote. After the homelink is programmed some garage door openers (ones with scrolling codes) will need to be matched but many openers don't need that step. The LED will tell you if you need to match the opener to Homelink.

They should go into "First in First out" if you try to link too many remotes.

Sometimes the problem is with the Home Link in the Cayenne - need to clear it out from past errors, attempts etc. Hold down buttons 1 & 3 together on your Cayenne's Home Link console until you get the flashing lights on it (approx. 20 -30 sec). Then start again from the beginning as per Owner's Manual. Hopefully it will work. Good luck.

This was the key for me. Hold those two buttons down for a good long while.
