Default Anyone want to swap steering wheels? My dark wood for your heated?

I don't like the dark wood steering wheel, and prefer to have the heating feature. Mine's in great shape, and I could be without a car for a bit while I ship mine out and wait for the heated one.

Not sure what the part number is. I think it's simply plug and play for it to work.

One of my favorite features is the automatic wheel heating below 65 degrees.
I'll pass on the wood and suggest a nice pair of gloves for you.

You can have my heated steering wheel when you pry my warm dead fingers off it...

I have a grey heated wheel on my '05 CTT. What color is the leather on your wheel? I live in Houston so I appreciate the heated wheel for about a week every year.

I wouldn't be certain that it's simply plug and play. Don't know what gen Cayenne you have or what associated heated steering wheel components already exist on a Cayenne without actually having a heated steering wheel, but when I retro fitted a heated steering wheel on my gen 1 Touareg last year I also needed a heated steering wheel specific clock spring and steering wheel controller in addition to the heated wheel. And since the steering wheel controller was replaced, the steering angle sensor and ABS system needed to be recoded. The car also needed to be coded to recognize the heated steering wheel. Due to all of the coding required, I dropped the parts off at the dealer and had them install and code for $200.

I knew about the recoding, but haven't heard that on the clock spring and controller. I thought I read somewhere that it was plug and play, but might have to research that further. It shouldn't be too much different than the treg, I'd think. Even the buttons on the back for the lighting operate the same (2 buttons for lighting, or 1 for lighting and one for heating).

Moskasa - it's a black wheel.

My recollection is that the wiring harness is specific to the heated wheel. Quite some time ago dealer had a Cayenne on the floor without the heated wheel. I told them I would buy it if they could put a heated wheel on it. They checked and could not do it. This was 8? years ago so things might have changed.

Yeah, I seem to be finding a mix of people saying the harness is the same, and some saying it's not. Plus, I thought you could manually turn it on like you do with the treg, but I guess it's auto on and off. Seems kind of dumb to put two buttons behind the wheel for the wheel lights, but not use one of them for the steering wheel heater like the treg does. I used the treg steering wheel heater quite a bit when the interior was above 50 degrees.

Since it's not just a simple swap, I'm now looking into one of those thicker custom steering wheels.
