Default Camshaft Position Sensor - P0349

Had a check engine light come on over the weekend. Pulled the code and came back as P0349 (Camshaft position sensor Bank 2). Cleared it and it came back after a few starts.

Been searching for a bit looking for any diy on replacing the sensor. Can't seem to find any. Have a few questions.
  1. Can anyone share some infor on replacing it or point me in a direction?
  2. Any idea's on how long it would take to replace the sensor?
  3. I found the part made by bosch which seems to be the supplier online for just over $100. I was wondering if using a sensor that I can get at Napa or Advanced Auto be ok as well? The brands they carry are BWD/Intermotor, Echlin, and Meyle.

Thanks in advanced for your feedback!

-Just replace the troubled one
-Get the Bosch. I had an Amazon off brand and it didn't fit although Amazon said it did.
-One connector and one bolt. Not terribly diffucult. Just hard to get to. My indy did mine in less than 15 min.

Thanks Scott for the response.

I think I'm going to change it without removing the manifold. I did find this article from Pelican, http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...eplacement.htm. They also have a lot of other articles for a lot of other things.

Should of taken Scott's advise with just ordering the Bosch part. A local advanced auto had a compatible part that I ended up getting with a $40 off coupon. Took me forever to get the old sensor out due to first finding it, and then using the wrong size socket. Finally got it out but the new sensor didn't fit. Ended up ordering the Bosch sensor from pelican. Should only take 15 mins to change out now I know what tools I need.

Ended up changing out the sensor tonight. It took about 15 mins. Tools needed were a E12 socket, 1.75" extension, flex head ratchet, magnet, and a finger grip socket adapter (all were 3/8").

Replacing the camshaft position sensor did fix my issue. No more code and drives normal again.

I'm amazed if anyone can do this in 15 mins. Even with my secondary air pump bracket, engine cover plates etc already removed to give much better access, this still took 20 mins. To get all the covers off took 20 mins as well.

P0349 continues...
I just replaced the Cam Shaft Positioning Sensor on Bank 2 (means the driver side, right?), it did not solve the issue! Please help!

Thank you,

Man N

You should check the coils too.

Drivers side WAY easier than passenger side.

"Drivers side" depends on what country you're in. In the US (and other drive to the right countries) - bank #2 is indeed on the port side of the vehicle.

And then there is the right side / left side quandary - sitting in it or looking at it?
