Cayenne S - Gear Shifter/Selector does not respond.
Hello,
yesterday after shutting down the engine, I tried to go from "D" to "P" and noticed it would only stay in "D".
The gear selector only stays in "D", does not go into P, N, or R.
Any idea what the problem could be?
I am able to start the engine, -only goes forwad - but it feels as if it is in "limp home mode" and the shifter feels strange.

1st thing to do is check the fuse for the transfer box control unit this is number 57 in the fusebox on the right of the dashboard
if this is OK then it best to get under the vehicle and unplug the transfer box connector and check for any corroded pins or damaged wiring
Item A is the servo motor connection and Item B the sensor connection
if these basic checks look OK then the next step is it plug into a Porsche diagnostic tool and if the selector switch is faulty it will flag up codes 2033 or 2039, other possibilities are a lack of power to the the selector motor ( 0532 or 2040)

Nothing new zonnie. My job entails providing remote technical support. After providing diagnostic guidance its usually crickets. Often have to hunt the Techs to get feedback and if this does not happen in a few days they don't remember the solution.

HI all I'm replacing the bushes as attached, I was also told the neutral safety switch could have been an issue which I switched as well each under the car to get too on both parts so save some cash and tackle yourself both are under heat shields on the opposite sides of the gearbox attaching pictures the neutral safety switch was 180$ haven't needed it yet, will tackle the changing of the bushes with some from advanced auto parts I didn't want to have to pull a new cable through will let you all know attaching some pictures
