Trailer towing Prep 1D8 option? What does it mean?
Anyone know what it means when you have this option? No trailer hitch on the vehicle. Just means it has wiring back there?

Found my own answer with a bit of searching which of course I should have done a better job at in the beginning.

There seems to be a difference in your description. On my 09 build sheet and on the window sticker, the 1D8 option says "Trailer Hitch without Hitch Ball", and there is no indication of the term "prep" on the build sheet or the window sticker, and was $630. I take that to mean it has everything.
Other mfrs include extra cooling for engine and tranny as well as bigger battery and alternator. Does anyone know if the Cayenne tow hitch includes any of this?

Is yours a 955? Maybe Porsche changed the 1D8 option when they migrated from the 955 to the 957. Mine came with the 2" hitch receiver and the wiring.

Mine has the option 1D6. It has a 2" receiver and the wiring with a blank cover. I had to buy a plug-in adapter for it. When I connect a trailer, it monitors the trailer wiring and shows "trailer bulb out" if it is out and shows green <1> with turn signal like all europian trailer options.
