I think that the you completely lose the ethos of those wheels with either of those paint jobs.

Looks like "painted in exterior colour" was an option.
This is the way I like to see them though.

Looking good!
I think that contrasting colors on wheels should be reserved for race-inspired vehicles, like the Transyberia, etc... It takes a lot to pull off the look.
