SUV Replacement
I'm curious if anyone here has a 2005 -2006 V6 Cayenne how good is it, is it really that unpowered. Looking to replace my 03 Land Rover Disco, I know it wont have the same cargo area which is great in the LR

It's not that bad, but the power-to-weight ratio is MUCH better utilized on the Cayenne S. It would be almost a lateral move, from the Disco if going to the Cayenne V6. The REAL bang-for-the-buck, begins with the Cayenne S....

I'm happy with mine. It's no slouch, and it pulls a trailer.

I have a 2006 V6....its not gonna be winning any race....depends on your driving style. Yes it does pull a trailer effortlessley....gets u from point A to B in comfort.....and is a no nonsense vehicle.

What is the value proposition for buying a base 955 cayenne? The delta between base, S, & turbo just isn't that big now. A used S can be had for 10-15k and a turbo for $15-20k. It's not like the v6 gets good fuel economy. The turbo is the best value proposition because it includes the most standard features for pennies on the msrp. It is also, anecdotally, the most reliable.

I'm going to test drive both V6 and the S, I'm probably leaning towards the S. The LR was a major pig that could not get out of its own way but served a purpose.

We have an 08 V6 Cayenne. It has a 3.6 motor with 290 hp; the 05-06 model is a 3.2 with, I think, 247 hp. Ours has a manual transmission, and I don't think it's underpowered at all. With the smaller V6 and an automatic, it might be a different story, particularly if you intend to pull a trailer.
I like the relative simplicity of the VR6. We get pretty close to the 16/20 mpg as rated by EPA; maybe a bit over 20 on the highway if we keep the speed down. 80,000 trouble-free miles so far.

I bought a v6 for two reasons, first that it fell into my lap and i was able to cpo it through work. Second, money is easy to save when the matching VW parts are available since it is a slightly modified version of their motor.
Its still peppy, but not a race car. Ive had slower and faster vehicles before, but it suits my driving.

2006 Base v6 original owner 160k miles. One set of pencil coils/plugs and one cardan shaft. Tires, oil, oil filters, and premium only after 100k.
Need to put about 3k into her to get tranny refreshed and aim for 250k miles on just mainly consumables.
