Default Anyone Got Tips To Cure Noisy Load Cover?

Hi all

The retractable load cover on my 2005 CTT is noisy as hell when its in the closed position, the ends that hook in groan and creak against the plastic trim panels. I recall having this with my last one and wrapped the ends of the cover in velcro but it wasn't a proper fix, anyone know a way to cure this annoying problem, I'm keeping it open at the moment but people can see into the load area which I don't want.

The rear compartment trim rattles a bit too but is probably a loose trim, once the weather picks up I will tackle that. Is it just me or do most 4x4 / SUV have rattles in the load area / tailgate, many of the ones I have had did, BMW X5, X6, Merc ML, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and the Cayenne's Ive had all have rattling back ends

Thanks

Carlo

Just a thought....maybe sticking some foam weatherstripping where it hooks in? Like the thin strips Home Depot sells for doorways and window frames? Maybe it stops the tabs from rattling around. If not they peel right off.

Maybe the spring coil mechanism inside load cover is stretched to point its not giving enough tension when you hook it on so it sits loose. Is it rattling from the fitting side or where the load cover attaches behind rear seat? Is that thingie that locks on the right side by rear seat maybe loose or not engaged into lock? Have no such noise on my load cover but then again my wife is certainly pretty loud as a backseat driver!!! Mike

I removed it, then things got quiet.

Other than that, putting small wide and thick rubber bands on the little nubs that you slide in and out on the side of the vehicle when retracting the cover, reduced quite a bit of noise.

I had black ones, for a better look on my black interior.

onmy 955 it was replaced under warranty, its like a horizontal blind, over time the tension reduces enough

try not closing it to make sure. Not sure theres a repair solution yet
