Default hitch ball mount storage?

I've always been frustrated by the lack of storage in my CTT. Does anyone have any tips on where they put the ball mount for the trailer hitch?

I have a space saver spare and between that and the air suspension accumulator there is no place to store this thing under the floor. I also have 4-zone a/c and therefor there is no storage compartment on the left side of the cargo area. The storage compartment on the right is only large enough to fit a liter of oil.

Thanks for your inputs...

What year CTT? If a 955 isn't there room under the rear seat to put the receiver insert and ball? I never did it myself on my '06 S but I think it would fit.

957 has styrofoam like material under there, haven't looked to see if it could be cut. I keep mine in my garage.

It's an '04. I've tried under rear seat but I can't quite get the seat to latch.

The one sure way for me to forget the hitch is to leave it in the garage. I've done that before!

Mine is Velcro-strapped into the right-side trapezoidal compartment build into the hatch - behind the CD changer. runs up and down vertically.

Ok thanks. I've got a liter of oil in there, I've tried under the rear right seat and seam to have found an angle that works ok. Appreciate the ideas and encouragement to try the seat option again.

Leave it on. Makes a great defensive tool for people that rear end you...

.... and a good shin breaker for me. Plus I have to pull further into the garage to clear the hitch.

But yes, on long highway trips out of town I'm inclined to leave it on.
