Mine is wood but I do find that contrasting black attractive, nice move.

I don't why I thought mine was leather. So dumb. It's wood - lol. Long day yesterday!

Sarcasm. Your fix looks great. I would have cringed at the very first off-color mark.

Hi all. I live in the Caribbean, so the heat basically melted the factory coating in several areas on my 2008. I used Tuff Stuff to remove it and it worked great. It did the job without scratching the surface and I'm very pleased with the results...

Ahh, I thought it might have been but it seemed more on the side of non-sarcastic.

Good to know for future reference. You are talking about this stuff right? http://www.tuff-stuff.com/products/cleaner-degreaser/

I had tried using simple green but it didn't seem to have much effect.

Odd, I live in the Middle East and have never had any heat damage whatsoever (except for the seat back falling off on my GTS) to the interior of any of the Porsche's I have owned.

I think it looks great. The black flecks would be enough to drive me insane as well. The 'after' looks flawless and fits in well.

I used steel wool to get the soft stuff off my Cayman console to prep for body color painting. You could have gotten the matching beige color from any paint store and have touched up the nicks or sprayed the whole piece.

I don't think regular paint and this soft touch coating would mix well. The coating should be taken off before painting or doing anything else anyways.

Paint works with a few minor chips on the soft touch very well. By the looks of your console you did the right thing by stripping it all off.

Yup. My Saab 9-3 had it all over the place. Using Armor-All on it will make it peel super quick. =/
