If you're tight on money, why do you need to do anything?
I'd think it would be cheaper to cut out the cat and weld in a straight pipe if you had to do something.

I have every tool know to man and tried it and I gave up and took it to a muffler shop and had 2 pipes done for $250. Call around because most muffler shops dont want to touch it because its illegal for them to remove them. I removed mine and drove it in with no cats on it. I wish I had saved the cats and maybe could sell them cheap for an offset of the price of the straight pipes but I destroyed one of them trying to gut it

I called around here locally in edmonton nobodys willing to do it here because the bends they have to make.
There willing to hollow the cat out though And i cant justify myself to pay $600 just for fabspeed cat bypass pipes.

I do think it is sad that one of these is worth as much as an early 2000s Jeep Grand Cherokee:

I think they will hit a bottom, will be bought cheap, trashed, wrecked, not taken care of, then rebound a bit and settle at around 12k in the future for ones that are taken care of as people see some value to what you get in the car. Once a car is past 10-15 years people are buying it still for a non transportation only reason, but rather the name, quality, etc. Still a pig though

OMG, $250 is like what, 3 full tanks of gas?
you really want to go in the hassle of hollowing out the cats for this kind of money? hollowing them out will also most likely lower your power as there will be significant turbulence in the exhaust.

I saved my original cats, will probably have to put them back on to sell it someday.
I saw a 2004 Cayenne S with 6000 miles on sale for $12K. Seems like it should sell for more?

15hp for $500 is a bargain. Side effect is a little more noise. I think there will be a lot of people doing weird stuff to their Cayennes in the next couple of years. I can't wait to see what some red necks can do to the pepper. Porsches have been out of price for most people. Now you can get a V8 porsche with less than 80k for under $15k. Stay tuned, i think we shall see a ton of mods in the future. Some good, some not so good. Hope the Porsche community won't be snobs about it.
