I own a 2011 997 with PSE and I am quite certain that it has gotten louder over time and distance (about 16000 miles). I also own a 2014 cayenne S with about 1000 miles so far, also with PSE, and I think it is showing signs of breaking in. Since I follow the official engine break in procedure, the CS has not had much throttle so far.
I suspect that there is more sound insulation in the CS than the 997, and I wind
out the 997, so the outcome is different. Bottom line: 997 PSE fabulous, CS PSE satisfying, but not a must have in my opinion, but my opinion may change for the better after engine break in. There is a hint of what's to come when the CS is started---start it up with the door open and you will be pleased.

Have the Fabspeed Secondary Catbypass installed and yes you can hear a big difference. It wakes up the Cayenne and make good use of the Sport button. Friends say they can hear me 2 blocks down lol. Now I'm hoping once my PSE goes thru a breaking period that it will sound Deeper and then you can hear more of that gurgle sound. When you on regular mode it puts the exhaust to quiet. In sport mode the car really Roars! Thank you Evan from Fabspeed he was very helpful.
