Default Is an Alignment needed after installing 5mm Spacers?

I am sure this has been addressed at one point in the past, perhaps on other forums, but thought to post it here and get your feedback ...

I am new to Porsche family, recently purchased a 13 Cayenne GTS and had the dealer install 5mm Spacers on all wheels - and yes, need to look very closely to see the difference!

My question for you is if I need to have them do an alignment on the car?

They said, they recommend it - but with less than 3K, not sure if I want them to touch the factory alignment.

Thanks in advance,

Congrats on the new Pepper GTS! I love my '08 GTS.
If you are going for wider stance/looks, a 10 MM is usually the thinnest that will make a visually perceptible improvement. Why 5 MM? Did you get aftermarket wheels, or smaller diameter for winter and have brake clearance issues?

ANS: NO, you do not EVER need an alignment for simply adding spacers. Even when you only add width to one axle you do not need an alignment.

As stated - no alignment needed. Annually, it's not a bad idea to help prolong your tire life, but not after spacers.

Default @CanyonBlaster and @DenverSteve, Thank you both for replies ...

The spacers are not aftermarket, Porsche's OEM parts. I have 21in Turbo II wheels on the car - they look great.

As for the 10mm Spacers, Only if I would have consulted you guys before purchasing those 5mm spacers, damn :^)

But the car looks better, I must say. So far I love it and plan to enjoy it for many years to come.

Happy that I do not need an alignment - I have been babying this car, but it is blast when you push it on the road :^)

Regards ...

I made a similar mistake back in my bmw days. Bought 10mm spacers to be used on the rear but then ended up putting 10mm on the front and got 18mm for rear. Much better look and felt it handled better.

Default Pics of my car ...

As you can see, 5mm Spacer does not make that much of a difference in the way car looks ....

I love the color - very nice ride. On the 955/957, the factory spacer option is 17mm in the rear, I'm not sure if it is even offered for the front wheels. Anyway, the question is: Why 5mm and not more?
